Once you finish the book:

- Make a thoughtful prediction based on the title and the cover of the book.
- Start the book and become an active reader - Interact with the book.
- Write about the qualities of the main character
- Look for hidden messages in the words and the pictures put there by the author and illustrator to help in your search for meaning.
- Write about the moment when you share a feeling with the events of story (excited, sad, upset, happy, frustrated).
- Write about your favourite part of the story.
- Make connections to the events of the book using your life experiences ( trips, other books, movies, media, family life).
Once you finish the book:
- Write about the big ideas- beginning, middle, end of the story (without re-telling the story in detail).
- Write about the meanings found in the book (why the author wrote it, what messages of lessons did you learn).
